12 Favorite Excuses for Not Coming to Class


Over the years we have heard many reasons for not coming to class.  Here are the top 12, not in any particular order, and why they are not true.

Not coming to class?  Do any of these sound like you? 

Over the years we have heard many reasons for not coming to class.  Here are the top 12, not in any particular order, and why they are not true.  Could it be we are all great at coming up with excuses? If any of these sound like you, please take the time to talk to one of us. 

1.       I’m not flexible 
            ...even more reason to come.

2.       I don’t have time 
            .....You owe it to yourself to make time as this is key to your overall health.

3.       I will wait until I feel better
            ...we have had post-surgical patients come to class and sit in a chair.  You do what you can do.  We don’t follow the premise of no pain, no gain.  

4.       After I lose more weight I’ll come 
            ...coming will help you lose weight. 

5.       Everyone in class will be in matchy-matchy outfits and that’s not my thing
            ...we are comfy people and don’t worry about designer clothes.  Just come and wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move.

6.       I don’t want to be the only guy
            ...and why not.  Pretty great odds.  That’s where Dave started and was one of the things he appreciated.  After years in a gym, the pulse of a studio is a comforting to the mind and body.

7.       What if I sweat?  I don’t like to sweat in public - That would be great! There are lots of benefits to sweating.  It is what our body is designed to do.

8.       Everyone is going to be looking at me
            ...everyone thinks that but in reality, they are all worrying about themselves and their issues.

9.       The classes are too advanced for me
            ...our classes are designed for every body.  As stated above we have had post-surgical patients attend class sitting in a chair.

10.   I’m too old to start doing group classes – you are never too old to start. Your body will thank you.

11.   I can’t get up and down from the floor 
            ...you can take class from a chair or we can teach you how to get up and down.

12.   What if I pass gas?  Spoiler alert
            ...we all need to pass gas from time to time and some poses are designed to do just that.  

As a parting thought, when I checked it out, there are over 60 different terms for passing gas.  Who knew?
