We've noticed that most people... down deep... seem not to really want to do what it takes to make the improvements in their life that they say they want. Be it weight loss, be it getting rid of anxiety, be it doing things differently. We're not willing to give up our old habits.
This is something that's been on my mind for a while and I hope I can articulate it to help you understand.
We've noticed that most people... down deep... seem to not really want to do what it takes to make the improvements in their life that they say they want. Be it weight loss, be it getting rid of anxiety, be it doing things differently. We're not willing to give up our old habits.
I've been reading a book called the Gifts of Imperfection, by Brene Brown. In it, she talks about finding compassion for other people, and in that she says compassion actually is sitting boundaries and holding people accountable. I was thinking, how can I hold you accountable?
If you're trying to lose weight... seems to be the big issue with many, many people. If you're trying to lose weight and you don't, do I need to hold you accountable? Let me throw this out there... maybe... God, nature, the atmosphere, the world, woo woo. Whatever is holding you accountable, and you need to recognize that accountability.
Let me tell you what the accountability is. You go on a plan to lose weight, and you don't lose weight. You're being held accountable because you didn't lose that weight. If you had lost the weight, you would be successful. That would show you that you had been successful. I know I'm rambling just a little bit, but I want to be able to, uh, to drive this concept home.
You need to look at that and say, Oh my God, the universe is holding me accountable.
Accountability really tells you what you're doing... If you're trying to lose weight and you're not losing weight, guess what? You're doing something wrong. You're cheating. You're eating foods that bloat you, or maybe you really don't want it, you're not willing to give up the sweet treats, the booze, whatever it is that's, that's putting that roadblock up to, to keep you from losing weight and keeping it off.
Now, I only used weight as an example. This can go to so many other facets of our life. It can go to exercise, it can go to mindset. It can go to how you treat other people.
All the same way if you have a goal but you aren't making any progress toward that goal. I don't need to tell you. The accountability comes in the lack of results.
So let's start thinking about that. When you've been on a eating plan for a month and you're not getting the results, you're being held accountable by the universe.
So today I invite you to step back, take a deep breath, and see what accountability you need to be paying attention to and be honest with yourself. Just be honest with yourself.
I really hope you can figure it out. We all struggle with figuring out this life and how to move and feel and just be amazing all the time. So my wish, as always for you is that you may go through your day moving well, staying healthy and... be happy.
Okay? Today's message. I hope it came across well. Talk to you tomorrow.
