How to Fix a Bad Mood (Corny Alert)

A little grumpy? Give this seemingly silly technique a try and see if it takes you out of that bad mood.


Have you ever been in a really bad mood or even depressed. And then suddenly something distracts you and you snap out of it?

That's an interesting phenomenon isn't it? Makes you wonder, are you really depressed? Were you really sad? Maybe not. Maybe the modern day mind... it just, it's always looking for an angst for some reason.

Here's a little tip. It's what I do. And it's corny as hell. So if you don't like corny, you might want to shut off right now. 

Sometimes when I'm feeling down, say, I'd get up in the morning, I'm kind of grumpy. And I don't really want to go to work. I look in the mirror and I smile a big old, goofy, silly grin.

Most of the time that will take me of it. 

I discovered this quite by accident. One day I was listening to somebody who said that, just smile, probably Tony Robbins or somebody like that, who said, just look in the mirror and smile. It'll make you feel better. And so one morning I was especially... hadn't gotten much sleep and was especially excited to... excited that's the wrong word.

I was not excited. Excited was the last thing I was. I was grumpy, boy, I just wanted to go back to bed. I was one grump bottom, and I was, I was actually bringing myself into depression. So I walked to the mirror and I said, yeah, yeah, yeah. Tony sure, sure, sure. So I went to the mirror and I got this big goofy smile and actually started laughing and I was like, oh, come on..

So I just kind of forgot about it. I went to work, it turned out that was exactly what I needed. So I often did... in fact, most days I start I go in the bathroom and I look at that, that guy in the mirror and I just get a big old smile and it's amazing how good it will make me feel.

Goofy, I warned you corny as hell, goofy.

It makes no sense. It works for me. 

So next time you're feeling a little down, find a mirror, give yourself that big old smile and see what happens.
