My Report Card: 30 Days as a Carnivore

I promised I'd take you along on my journey. Good results or bad results. Where am I at after my first full month living a Carnivore Life Style?

If you've been following the podcast, you know that on November 10th, I made the decision to draw a hard line, a hard line that I would not cross. 

For the past 15 years. I've been eating low carb and I would eat a little bit of this, a little bit of that. I would cheat from time to time and I cured my diabetes. I solved lots of other health issues. I started moving better and feeling. 

But I had two or three issues that were still bugging me. I had these constant electrical shooting pains in my feet. They were very uncomfortable and very painful at times, especially after a long walk. Also, still an inflammation. I couldn't understand why.

I was listening to Dr. Olivita a gentleman who wrote a book called stay off of my operating table. He's a heart surgeon and performed over 3000 surgeries and decided he wants to help people to stay off of his operating table. Prevention as opposed to fixing issues after they've happened.

He was talking about how he had plantar fasciitis and it wasn't until he went full carnivore that his inflammation left his body and that went away. 

Well, that got my attention immediately with these shooting pains I've been dealing with in my feet for the past couple of years. 

So I said, okay, enough is enough starting on November 10th I will not eat sugar. I will not eat carbs. I will live on meat, cheese, eggs, sour, cream, and fish.

And that's it. That's all I've eaten for the last 30 days, even though Thanksgiving was in that period. I did not deviate one little bit. 

I've made a couple of other reports in between November 10th and today, which is December 10th. I've told you things are actually getting better. 

Well, 30 days out after my first full month, I have to tell you, I am probably never going to deviate.

I'm afraid to, I feel the best I've ever felt in my life. I'm 68 years old. I move and feel better than I did when I was 38. I want that to keep getting better. 

I love getting up in the morning, being wide awake, being energetic and thrilled to get on with my day. 

Here's the report. After 30 days, the pain in my feet is gone. The neuropathy has gotten better. 

Do I get inflammation during the day? No, I do not anymore. 

Do I ever get a little gas? Yeah last couple of days and a little gas, too much coffee, I believe was the issue on that. I may hit a point where I start cutting back dramatically, even eliminating caffeine because I'm realizing my health is so damn important.

I'm not willing to eat other foods even to test. My daughter asked me, she said, well, now it's, you're feeling so good can't you start introducing some vegetables and testing them. 

I said, well, number one, I love the way I eat. 

I'll tell you what a typical day is for me. I usually fast until about noon, one o'clock. I don't need to eat in the morning. I might do some bullets, Bulletproof coffee with butter in it, but I enjoy sipping on coffee having my, Bengle spice tea. And then when I do break my fast, I have a four omelet made with sausage, the cleanest sausage I can find, which is Jimmy Dean, believe it or not, the only ingredient in it is pork.

So, you can get some other sausages and they got a bunch of crap in them, but that one, or maybe buy from your local butcher. 

So I have my sausage omelet with four slices of cheese, four eggs, and two beautiful patties that I put together. That's so yummy. I had a little dollop, a sour cream on the side, and I've got my cooking down to where it is so easy, so fast.

And so, dog gone yummy. I looked forward to that every day.

For dinner. Typically I have a steak. I have a good size steak. I use butter for a side, I use salt and pepper to flavor it up and just make it, make it so mouth wateringly, scrumptious. It's hard to believe. 

Some nights I'll have chicken thighs and I'll take four chicken thighs and I'll coat them with pepper and maybe even a little Cajun spice that we've got that's very clean and very good. 

That's my meals. I'll have coffee for dessert at night. I take a cup of coffee. I sip it down or I take my bengle spice tea and I sip it down. 

So when my daughter asked me, if I'd be willing to start testing vegetables or maybe eat a meat like carne asada, full of additives and things at Christmas, I said, don't worry about it. Because I'm realizing now I can go to Christmas dinner and I can enjoy the company of everybody else.

I won't make a big deal out of it if I don't eat anything, or if she's got something there that works for me. But I said, please, don't worry about accommodating me. I'll be fine. I can have my breakfast before we come over and have my dinner that later that night. 

I know many of you don't want to hear this because your treats are so important to you.

I often thought the same thing. I used to crave... when we take our Sunday morning adventures... I would crave some type of pastry. And I finally realized that was more habit than necessity. 

I'm finding now that I eat what I love. I'm full all the time. I'm never looking for seconds if I want a little snack. I keep some sliced ham around... again, found the leanest cleanest, sliced ham I could.

I grab a slice of it, maybe between meals. So maybe call that my third meal of the day. I don't do it all day long. It's almost more of a nervous habit mid-afternoon.

And that's it. That's how I eat. 

I love my life. I'm happy to report foot pain is. Bloating is gone. I've got more energy. Inflammation is gone. I feel great every single day. 

That hard line I believe is there forever. 

I'll report on this every couple months and let you know how it's going.

I've still got some other minor issues I need to take care of, but oh my God, I feel so darn good. 

I'd like that for you too. I'd like you to figure out exactly what you need to eat to keep yourself healthy and to change your entire attitude about food.

There are great ways to eat healthy vegan, and some people thrive on vegan. 

Peggy's a pescatarian. She eats fish and above ground veggies. Very, very small amounts of below ground veggies. She thrives on that. 

My wish for you is that you find a way of eating where you can be healthy, where you can move well, where you can be happy.
