Often when we're doing meditations, when we're working on ourselves... tapping... maybe you'll be instructed to say, I am perfect just as I am.
This one's always bothered me.
Perfection is an unattainable state. To tell myself that I'm perfect just the way I am, I always felt disingenuous when I would say that.
So I did a little research and found this description of perfection and it's exactly what I thought.
Perfection. A simple word that describes an unattainable state.
The true definition of the word states that perfection is the process of improving something until it is faultless.
We all know that that's not possible.
And somehow all of us feel that the world requires us to be perfect. Getting there is simply impossible, often resulting in feelings of inadequacy, worthlessness. Just not feeling right.
It always bugged me.
Give that definition a little bit of a twist.
Maybe you cannot achieve true perfection, so when I'm tapping and I say, I am perfect, just like I am. I think it's more about accepting exactly who I am.
So lift your chin. You're already perfect just the way you are.
See there it is.
You're already perfect. Just the way you are.
It means you're perfectly you and nobody in the world can be better than you.
You're unique in every way.
Imperfection is what makes us human.
So are you imperfect?
Then you are a perfect human.
Everything you need to become the best possible version of yourself is already inside of you.
You can achieve greatness by being yourself.
So I guess if you look at it that way... yeah, we are already perfect.
I'm perfect exactly as I am.
I'm perfect in my imperfection.
How's that grab you?
Ruminate on that one a little bit.
Until tomorrow move well, stay healthy, be happy, live with passion and I will talk to you soon.
