So Much More Than The Physical!


Are you a person whose mind is always racing? Who's always active? Well, what's really great is when you come to class and you sit down on the mat or you begin standing... doesn't matter. And you start focusing on your body, your movement and improving yourself, all of a sudden, all of that kerfuffle floats away.

Yoga style fitness classes, especially the fitness classes we offer at RiversZen are for so much more than the physical. They're also for the mental. 

Are you a person whose mind is always racing? Who's always active?

Well, what's really great is when you come to class and you sit down on the mat or you begin standing... doesn't matter. And you start focusing on your body, your movement and improving yourself, all of a sudden, all of that kerfuffle floats away. 

So don't come to classes just looking for the physical, understand that you're going to get some mental benefits that sometimes outweigh the physical. 

I know that sounds farfetched, but it's not, it's not, I guarantee you.

I have learned to do a little mini meditations... and that came out of my fitness class routine. It's where I can just pause during the day, let my hands drop down to my knees. Take some nice deep breaths, long breaths in, long breaths out and allow my body to relax. 

It's funny how that monkey mind... that monkey brain... it stops. 

That's part of what we need. You don't need that constant blah, blah, blah, blah, most of us got it from our parents. I know I got it from my dad. He was always telling me, you gotta think, you gotta plan ahead. You gotta think. And I developed this habit of constantly thinking about every bad situation that could happen and adjusting and then worrying about it. Sometimes even making myself physically ill.

You always hear when they're talking about yoga... mind, body. It is, it is even if you're doing a fitness class that maybe might not be traditional yoga, but it has lots of yoga style poses has some resistance stretching where you're focusing on the physical. 

Don't forget about the mental benefits that come along with that. 

It's powerful. Very powerful.
